Q: I have been having trouble with small snails (approximately 2mm) eating new roots on orchids grown in my house. What can I use to get rid of them? I have tried some snail baits, that I bought from Home Depot, several times without success.

A: Small snails are often difficult to control because the baits get the adults but not the eggs. Thus, new snails are hatching out constantly. You should keep using the baits. It will take up to a couple of months to bring them under control completely.
